Love this place! Could the food be better? Yes, but it’s a comedy club not a restaurant. I’ve never left here unhappy with the experience I’ve had. And I’ve been here many times. The service is good and comedians are always great. That’s all you can really ask for from a comedy club.

The food is a bit overpriced for what it is—fairly average bar food—but there is literally not a bad seat in the house. I always enjoy a night at the Helium!

kachka! this is now on my favorite restaurant list. the service is terrific. derek was my waiter and he was amazing. this is an “european style” restaurant so the service is intended to be paced slow and methodical to present everything you eat and drink. i had the rabbit in a clay pot, which was absolutely incredible. the sauce and seasoning were paired just right. i could’ve spent 6 hours there, but i did 3 instead! also, the drinks were top notch. this is a must try for a solo traveler or for the locals.

I hate writing reviews but this was horrible. We had a reservation for 7:15 and weren’t seated for half an hour. Didn’t get our drink orders taken until 20 minutes later. The waitress was very off putting and completely disinterested in communicating anything. She kept repeating some of the portions are large and made for sharing… kind of hard to share when everyone’s appetizers came out in completely random intervals. That’s disregarding the fact that they were all very small. Two of us ended up leaving early, after being there for over 2 hours when still no one had gotten their entrees. Our friends didn’t get their entrees until 20 min after we left. One of whom got hers way later than everyone else. When we did order, she kept insisting we needed to see if anyone wanted the same thing (SHARING remember?) and asked who wanted to take charge of the ordering. When I asked if anyone wanted what I was going to order, trying to do as she’d asked, in the most patronizing tone she could muster “ooohhh actually we JUST ran out of that”. No time to see what else I might want, as I no longer had a menu, tough luck for me! I’d like to think it was a bad night, and she can’t control the speed of the kitchen or force the table before us to leave, but giving us the most bare bones customer service would have been nice. The food was just ok. Definitely not worth the price and abysmal service Edit: just saw the response a month later asking for an email for more details when I was as detailed as I could be. My partner had left a review as well and suddenly it’s nowhere to be found. So they are deleting reviews too. No wonder their score is so high for how awful the experience is. I’ve since spoken to others who have been and their experience was just as awful as my friend’s birthday was. They’ve also left snarky unprofessional responses to other 1-2 star reviews. How this place is still in business is beyond me. Avoid at all costs

Delicious and authentic Lebanese food! Everything was full of flavor and beautifully prepared. The food, service, and atmosphere were all exceptional. The fried cauliflower was especially delicious. Somehow it was the only dish I managed to photograph but everything we tried was so good.

A great little spot to grab some food and to walk around Portland! My sister, her husband and I all went here to grab some grub before walking over to Hopscotch. Highly recommend, service and food were fantastic.

The food was great. The issue was the process between ordering and getting a table. We ordered at the counter and waited near a table that was clearing out. When I sat down, the blond woman busing it told me fairly curtly to get up and wait while she cleaned. Once it was ready, she split our group of 8 across two tables. We realized we could all fit at one, but when we let her know we didn't need the second table, she seemed annoyed and had an attitude about it. On the way out, I noticed a small card (about 3"x4") set at an angle on the window (like someone put it there temporarily) saying something like "we're busy, please wait to be seated." That's easy to miss, and it goes against what most people expect: if you order at the counter, you usually find your own table; if you order at the table, you wait to be seated. Clearer signage about how seating works would prevent this kind of confusion. Small things, but it made the visit feel unwelcoming. (Visited Saturday October 17th around 6–7pm.)

It was a bad experience at this place. I don't know her name, but the Asian woman was very aggressive. She kept speaking with her mouth and asked me to read her lips. Either she should use sign language or be quiet. Guess what she did next? She slammed the note on the table so hard. That was a red flag. I didn't fight back or argue; I left to protect my sanity. This place isn't friendly for deaf customers at all.

This place was awesome, after a night of drinking we were looking for a place to eat, service was fast, we received our food way faster than expected and the food was fresh and really good! I definitely recommend this place!

Ordered two ramens and a hand roll. All were smaller than average and felt perfunctory. Handroll Rice was undercooked way below katame standards. Ramen broths were both mid-level complexity, the pork belly was one sad only 1/16" thick & about three inches in diameter (I mean, come on, pork is the cheapest meat. Why makes such a stingy showing in this area? ) and their gluten free noodles (I know this is not the best choice) stuck together like a nest. Great service, beautiful setting, but the kitchen seems undertrained or complacent in a town with many better options.

Mountain Wizard Tattoo Company

★★★★★ · in the last week

I stopped at Lardo while I was visiting Portland from the Pocono Mountains to work the Portland Tattoo Convention over the summer, and this was one of the places that really stood out to me during the trip. The pig ears were awesome. They reminded me a little of bacon, just with their own thing going on, and the burger was absolutely amazing. Easily one of the meals I remember most from being out there. I own Mountain Wizard Tattoo Company back home in Pocono Lake, Pennsylvania, and I travel for tattoo conventions pretty regularly, so I end up trying a lot of different restaurants in different cities. Lardo is definitely one I’ll remember. Next time I’m back in Portland, I’m coming here again.
